Skyworth GN256V achieves Broadband Forum BBF.247 certification
2020.12.28
Skyworth Digital has announced successful BBF.247 certification of its xPON ONT product GN256V. Broadband Forum’s BBF.247 is the global certification standard in the FTTx domain to assure operators of interoperability, compatibility and market readiness for ONT rollout in a what is often a multi-vendor OLT ecosystem.

Skyworth Digital’s broadband team in China and the Broadband Forum’s certification partner LANPARK in France produced this most successful outcome whilst adopting a remote-working approach to collaborate on the activities required for certification to BBF.247 for profiles A/B/C/D.

The successful certification confirms Skyworth Digital’s GPON ONT GN256V is proven to BBF.247 requirements, guaranteeing a rapid time to market and trouble-free integration into standards-compliant OLT networks.

“The BBF.247 certification of GN256 confirms Skyworth’s commitment to a xPON strategy and complete broadband solution of providing operators real choices of value-sensitive ONTs whilst eliminating single-vendor lock-in.” said Wellin Lin, GM of the Broadband Business Unit, Skyworth Digital. “Skyworth recognizes the importance of BBF.247certification, as it is essential for operators to be assured of success in advance of the onboarding of a new broadband partner, in what is increasingly an ARPU-sensitive global broadband market.”

The Broadband Forum, BBF is a non-profit organization made up of prominent telecom operators and vendors whose aim is to speed up broadband access proliferation and attain greater xPON interoperability. The BBF authorized the Laboratoire des Applications Numériques (LAN Laboratory) as the sole testing authority to administer the approved BBF.247 tests and assess eligibility of products for the Broadband Forum Certification which is open to Forum member companies only.
