Skyworth partners with Fetch TV on an advanced new Set-Top Box
2024.09.06
We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Fetch TV on the design, production, and launch of the new Fetch Mini G5 set-top box. Now available in Australia via leading Internet Service Providers and retailers, the device is small, measuring just 10cm square x 2.3cm high, but feature-packed.

It includes a DVB-T2 tuner for broadcast TV, 4GB RAM, and a powerful Amlogic S905X4 chip, making it a high-performance entertainment aggregation device delivering a seamless user experience.

As part of the development, Fetch TV worked with Amlogic and Consult Red to make the Mini G5 the world’s first Hybrid RDK-Android Opensource operating system, presented within high-quality hardware manufactured by Skyworth.

The development is the first platform implementation of the innovative AndApps™ solution from Consult Red and enables Fetch to easily add Android apps into the RDK ecosystem to enhance the content choice, value, and user experience for Fetch customers, whilst maintaining the operator benefits of data security, UX monetization and transaction management.

Bringing together content from the world’s best entertainment providers, Fetch is a true aggregator presenting Free-to-Air, FAST, and subscription channels, streaming services, and a transactional movie and TV store all together on one intuitive menu. Underpinning the Fetch customer proposition of “The way to watch” is a market-leading UX, developed in-house, with integrated features such as universal voice search, continue watching, curated watch lists, a free-to-me filter, plus the ability to browse multiple streaming apps all on one screen, and to easily see all the places a show, season or episode is available without the frustration of having to jump in and out of menus and apps.

Founded in Sydney in 2008, and following an investment by Telstra Group in 2022, Fetch TV operates as a joint venture between the Telstra Group and Astro Holdings. Currently servicing over 600,000 customers acquired through ongoing partnerships with leading Australian ISPs and retailers, Fetch is growing rapidly towards 1 million subscribers as Telstra migrates the Telstra TV base across to the Fetch platform.  Fetch TV continues to evolve, with plans to develop beyond TV and streaming aggregation, into new complementary entertainment, gaming, and lifestyle offerings.  www.fetch.com.au
