Skyworth Digital has teamed up with SERPAHIC to supply Operator Application (OpApp) complaint STBs to the Italian operator tivùsat. The new products will be on the market this November.

The OpApp specification was finalised and published by the HbbTV Association in December 2017. Based on advanced Blink engine, SERAPHIC’s OpApp solution is compliant with the latest HbbTV 2 specification and enables manufacturers, OEM/ODM, SoC vendors, middleware providers and operators to quickly launch OpApp capable devices and services at an affordable cost.

The brand new OpApp compliant STBs will enable operators in Italy to replace the currently dominant MHP technical standard MHP and provide upgraded services at minimum effort.

Commenting on the development, Celine Guo, sales director for Europe and CIS at Skyworth Digital, said: “OpApp is a brand new service to launch. Within a very short time, SERAPHIC has successfully finished the related development and make sure we are all in line with the operator’s targeted commercial launch for Christmas this year.”

Xinwen Xue, VP product management of SERAPHIC, added: “Skyworth Digital and SERAPHIC have forged a long-term solid partnership in various hybrid projects. We are glad to work together on the OpApp project and look forward to creating one of the first commercial uses in OpApp’s case. SERAPHIC’s OpApp solution is on display at IBC 2018 at our booth (E12, Hall 14)”.
